The swedish teachers!

I'm going to tell you something about our teachers here in Sweden. Our teachers are very kind, anyway, the teachers I.m going to tell you about is Olof, Marie and Göran.

I'm gona start with Marie. She is our English teacher, and four students in  in our class also have her in French. She is very nice and she's always joking with us. I think she's one of our best teachers. Because she is so nice, and has a very good way to teach us things. She's doing funny things when we learn so the English lessons is very funny. Marie is from Canada and speaks very good English and  teaches us English in a good way. Our class has had many teachers, but Marie we have had Marie for two years no.

The next teacher I'm going to tell you about is Olof. Olof is a Social Studies and Swedish teacher. Olof is very special and funny. But sometimes it's only himself  who thinks he'sfunny. Olof loves Carola, a very famous swedish singer and he also loved to hunt. He always tell us about when he's out and hunting moose. Olof is a very good teacher as well. He has a very good way to communicate with the students. He makes that the students listen to him on a very good way. Olof is never angry. But sometimes even Olof gets angry, and then he is ANGRY. But almost everybody loves Olof so they are nice to him, and then he doesn't need to get angry. The last thing I'm going to tell you about Olof is that he lived on the countryside in a house with his cats. He dosen't have a wife or a girlfriend.

The last teacher I will tell you about is our music teacher Göran. Göran is a very good and cool teacher, and he has a stone face all the time. When he sings he's very funny but we try not to laugh. And he always show us how the instrument works and about music history. Sometimes, or often we play together all the clas. And sometimes we are in groups and play songs, and later we play it up for the rest of the clas on the stage. Göran is one of our music teacher how is leader for the choir on our school. He leads the clas 6 and 7 and Kristina leads the clas 8 and 9. Göran play piano when we have a koncert with the choir. Göran can play piano, gitarr, drums ye I think that he can play most of the instruments. Yes that's what I have to say about Göran. Our weard music teacher.

Bye Bye
Hello there!

I´m going to tell you something about our teachers here in Kapareskolan. The teachers I´m going to tell you about are Charlotta, Sara and Sofia. I hope that you already had figured out that this three teachers are women.

The teacher I´m gonna start with is Charlotta. She is our socialstudies teacher and she is a very strict and severe. She's got a hard discipline over us and we all usually listen to what she says to us. But if someone doesn´t listen to her when she says that we should be quiet she usually do her special kind of killing gaze. Then we know that we must be quiet.  I think that it is very good that she is a strict  teacher, because sometimes it´s very frustrating when some students in the class are quite loud. Otherwise she is a nice and helpful teacher.

The next teacher I´m gonna tell you about is one of our newest teacher. Sara is our Swedish teacher. She´s a very good teacher and she always listens to us and what we got to say. She always try to do what´s best for us. Sara doesn´t yell at us, but if we not listen to her or if we speak to each other when we´re not allowed to speak she just talks higher.

The third and the last teacher I´m gonna tell you about is also one of our newest. She is new for this year. Sofia is our math and science teacher. We have two math lessons and two science lessons per week with her and on the lessons we talk, read, write and do some experiment. She is not the kind of teacher who always tells us that we should be so quiet when we are loud.

Yeah, it was my short text about three of our teachers here in Kapareskolan. Now it´s your turn to write something about your teachers, bye.

Cabaret

Every year in our school, the day before our graduation we have a cabaret. For those of you who don't know what that is: it's an entertainment show where you can sing, dance, do stand up comedy, juggle, walk on stilts, do magic tricks or do something else that entertains the audience. There is also two emcee's every year who presents all the appearance. The emcee's are always two students in the 9th grade.

In the cabaret there are about 12 appearances. At first all these performances presents their numbers in front of all the students in 6th grade. After that they presents for all the students in 7th grade, then for the 8th grades and finally for the students in 9th grade.

Every year in our cabaret there is a teacher-band called "Hjärngänget" consisting of five teachers from our school.

Me and my friend Thilda have been in the cabaret every year since we began in this school 4 years ago. We have sung and played guitar every year, Thilda sings and I'm playing guitar.

The Swedish National dress

The Swedish national costume

This is the Swedish national costume.
This costume you wear in special ceremonies like midsummer. If you had seen princes Victoria at her birthdays on TV you can see that she wear a national costume. The Swedish national costume has existed for several generations. It has also been in many different colors and patterns. The national costume I’m wearing is the one who is best known today. I think it is the finest of all suits. In old times varied the national costume for different holidays and seasons.
If you ever go to Sweden, I think that a Swedish national costume is the best thing you can ever buy. The national costume I’m wearing is my friend Mathildas.
I hope it was fun to read about the Swedish national costume.

Fredagsmys

Fredagsmys

I’m going to tell you about a Swedish tradition called ”Fredagsmys” or ”Friday cosiness” as you would say it in English. Every friday, when we swedes come home from a long week in school or at work, we gather friends and family (or are by ourselves) to celebrate the arrival of the weekend. All you need for this celabration is your most comfortable clothes, drinks, dinner and snacks of your choice and your favorite movie or game. The friday cosiness is the best time of the week. Everybody is exited and relifed over the fact that they have a whole weekend in front of them and they celebrate this by relaxing.

The moast common meal to eat on a friday in Sweden is not a swedish meal, it’s a mexican. Tacos, wich is a dear favorite in many cosy familys, is a dish with meat and lots of vegetables. (But I think that you already know about that, since you have TacoBell in USA).

Friday cosiness has been a tradition in Sweden for many years now, and the thing that I personally think is responsible for making all the swedes addicted to these fridays, is the darkness. We swedes like to be out in the sun, when it’s shining. Unfortunaly, the majority of months are dark here. This means that when have our free time, it’s completely dark outside and to make the situation better, we hang out with our nearest to have a cosy evening.

The thing that I love the most about ”Fredagsmys” is that almost everyone loves it. There is not many people who don’t like to watch a movie and relax with friends, food, snacks and drinks. I mean, what is there not to like? There is a group on Facebook for all the ”Fredagsmys”-lovers called ”Vi som älskar fredagsmys” (We who love friday cosiness) wich contains 2% of the whole swedish population. (24% of the swedish population has Facebook).

There are some smart companies that have takened advantage of the ”Fredagsmys”-tradition to sell more of their products. The company who succeded best with this is OLW. It’s a company who sells chips and other snacs wich you often eat during ”Fredagsmys”. This snac-company created the song that would start to represent ”Fredagsmys”. The song was made for OLW’s commercial, but now you can hear it from at least one exited person every friday. You can listen to the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2qjjoA2N_g

It’s in swedish, but I hope that you’ll enjoy it anyway.

Hi Baltimore!

My name is Sofia Berntson, I’m soon sixteen and I run this blog together with my classmates.
You will now read about the department store Gekås, who is Sweden’s largest store and also Sweden’s most visited.

Enjoy!

Gekås
Scandinavia’s largest department store was founded in 1963. The department store is called Gekås Ullared AB.

Gekås has an area of 64000 square feet and it will be larger but it has not always been this big. It all started 1963 when a man named Göran Karlsson opened a shop on the ground floor in a house in the village Ullared. This was not a brilliant business when sales were 80 000 Swedish crowns during the two first years. That is about as much as Ullared may get in three minutes today.
Ullared moved in 1971 to larger surfaces and now makes huge sales.
Through time, Gekås. Göran sold his company in 1991 to six of his employees. This six employees expanded the sales. The customers liked the new development. Now, Ullared is just going forward. In 2006, Ullared came fourth in the competition “Sweden’s best workplace”. In 2007 they started to build more activities around Gekås, for example, Göran Karlssons motor museum.

Today, Gekås is Sweden’s largest shopping center and in 2010 it was visited by 4,5 million people. That is exactly as much as half of the Swedish population.

During all these years, Gekås has beaten a lot of records. For example, sales record for one day is 25,7 million crowns.

It’s often a long queue in to Gekås and the longest has been over 1,4 kilometers and it took 3,5 hours to get in to the store.

So, why are there so many people going to Gekås? Well, that’s because it’s cheap. It’s cheap and there is “everything for the home that fits in a car”.

How to make swedish meatballs

Hi!

We're Caroline, 16 years old, and Elvira, 15 (soon to be 16) years old. We like to listen to music and we often sing and play instruments toghether in our spare time. Caroline also goes dancing and Elvira plays soccer and floorball (if you don't know what that is you'll learn about it later). Both of us like to bake and cook so we decided to make a food video for you to watch. It's about a typical Swedish dish we think you will recognise. :)

Here’s the recipe for the Swedish meatballs, it’s really easy to cook and it’s delicious! If you’re too lazy to cook some for yourself, you can go to IKEA and buy it. J
